One of the many sports offered here at Graham High School is basketball. The coaches of the basketball teams are Coach Wood (girls) and Coach Hise (boys). The purpose of the basketball program at Graham High School is to encourage teamwork, competitiveness, entertainment, and friendships with people you might not usually connect with. When asked what her favorite thing about basketball is, senior Madi Wilde said, “My favorite thing about basketball is the competitive environment and the energy brought from that environment.” Coach Wood, coach of the Lady Blue’s basketball team said, “For the most part I think we will have good team chemistry, and we have much more experience this year than we did last year.” The Steer’s basketball team had a successful season last year and is hoping to continue the success into this year’s season. When asked what he was most excited about this season, junior Cash Bowen said, “I’m most excited about playing with a new team and being able to show everyone else what I can do.” Coach Hise, the coach of the Steers, said, “We’re gonna be a lot bigger and more mature. With maturity, we ‘oughta be able to expand on the stuff we did last year.” Both the girl’s and boy’s basketball teams are hoping to do well during the pre and post-seasons, which typically start in November and end in March. Keep an eye on your calendar!
