Golf is a sport that Graham High School offers. Coach Michael Todd is the head coach with Coach Kris Hise as the assistant coach. This is a sport that has both a fall and spring season, with a focus on the spring season since that is when district is. There is a chance for varsity players to advance up to state. This is a great sport for those who love an independent sport that requires focus. There are multiple elements of golf, the tee off, hitting, chipping and putting. There is a golf class eighth period where students go to the Graham Country Club to practice. It is important to note that you do not have to be in the class period to participate in golf. They may go to practice at the Country Club after school to work on their skills at the driving range, the putting green, the chipping green, and the course. Students participating in golf go to various tournaments throughout the school year to work in improving in a competitive environment. “Golf is challenging, most people who have not played golf think that it is easy,” says Coach Michael Todd. Sophomore, Abigail Smith, says, “I like the sport, it is enjoyable and I like being competitive.” If someone is interested in playing golf this school year, it is not too late! Go to Coach Todd’s room in the history hall to talk to him about how to join. Official after school practives will begin in January to start off the spring season.
