Graham High School has a wonderful theatre program. Theatre is an excellent extracurricular activity to be involved in. There are many different classes offered at GHS that pertain to theatre such as Theatre I, Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre, and the Productions class. The productions class is a new addition to the schedule that is offered to students who are super dedicated and want to be involved in all things theatre. All theatre classes offered are taught by Mrs. Katie Huitt. There are many different opportunities to be involved such as the fall show, the musical, and One Act Play. Fall show is a great production that they produce each year, and it is a great way to begin to get involved. The GISD musical is a show that both Graham High School and Graham Junior High School can be involved with. It is a great experience for students who enjoy having fun, singing, dancing, and being creative. One Act Play, O.A.P, is the competitive part of theatre. Students involved in O.A.P. could potentially go all the way to state by being successful in a series of competitions. All the shows are co-directed by Mrs. Kay Berru and Mrs. Katie Huitt. There is also a club for those who are passionate about theatre. The International Thespian Society is a group that gets inducted in the spring based on a point system to begin getting involved the next semester. If you are interested in joining talk to Mrs. Huitt to find out how many points you will need. βI love theatre, it makes me feel like I have a voice,β says Mrs. Katie Huitt. Sara Peyton Dospapas, a junior involved in theatre, says, βIt allows me to make friendships.β Mrs. Katie Huitt always wants more people to join the theatre family, if you are interested in learning more, go to her room to get more information.
