The RSB3 considers themselves to be a family. RSB3 is a very hard working organization who works hard over the whole school year. Every morning at 7 am, if you look out on the field you will see the band practicing to perfect their show. This year, the show is entitled Black Swan which is a striking show with catchy songs that everyone enjoys! Whether it is marching season or concert season, they are working hard to put on a good show for our community. Head director Joshua Kidd says, “I enjoy the process of creating our shows and concerts from scratch. There is nothing more satisfying than being able to look back at where you started and see what you have achieved throughout the process”, when asked what his favorite thing about being the director is. Also, when he is asked about why he got into RSB3 in the first place he said, “I have always enjoyed music. In high school, I was involved in a number of band activities including concert band, jazz ensemble, and marching band. I had great teachers that inspired us each day to work together toward hard goals. Being able to work together towards a common goal is something that I want to pass along to our students, just like my directors did for us!” We all have many goals for this season, Mr. Joshua Kidd says, “My biggest goal this season is to continue to embrace the core ideas of the RSB3 and strive each day to be better. Pursue Excellence in the details. Exhibit Intensity when we encounter challenges. Represent GHS with Class. Take care of the RSB3 Family. If we can achieve these things, it will be an incredible experience for everyone!” Without the supportive directors, the RSB3 family wouldn’t be where they are today. From a couple of our band students perspectives, freshman Angela Fuentes says “My favorite part about being in band is going to the football games and just bonding with my friends, making new ones and doing all of the fun dances in the stands.” Being a freshman and getting to be a part of such a big organization must be such an exciting experience! Senior Jamie Smith states, “I really like the bonds that are created in band. I have so many friends that have graduated that I met in band when I was a freshman and they are near and dear to my heart. The time spent with band friends is by far the best thing about band for me.” There is more to the RSB3 family than just the band though! We also have a drill team called The Bella Blues and we also have a Color Guard team! Sophomore Sarah Kunkel, a Bella Blues social officer, says “My favorite thing about being in Bellas is definitely the football games, I love doing all of the silly dances and having fun with my friends. I’ve learned from being in Bellas that if you have drama with anyone, you have to just let it go and get along with everyone because you won’t get very far in life if you don’t start thinking about anyone other than yourself.” Junior Ireland Wright, the Bella Blues Captain, says “I really enjoy making memories with everyone. I’ve always enjoyed dancing and when I learned about Bellas I immediately wanted to join. Being in Bellas has taught me so many things and I have made some of my closest friends.” Included in the RSB3 family, is color guard. Color guard provides a lot of the visuals, including flags and choreography. Alexia Santos says, “My favorite thing about this family is cheering at the games and having fun with everyone.” As you can see, the RSB3 is a huge family who love and support each other. If you want to join the RSB3 family it is unfortunately too late this school year, but you can join Bellas or Guard next season! You can contact Mr. Joshua Kidd for Color Guard or Miss Jackie Peacock for Bellas. Come support RSB3 during halftime and the Steers football games, and at their own contests!

About the Contributor
Sophie Rodgers, Editor
Sophie Rodgers is a seventeen- year- old junior in high school. She is an editor for the Steer Stampede and enjoys her quiet time. She keeps a small, close circle of friends who she spends most of her time with if she isn’t working at Scooters Coffee. Sophie is a part of the RSB3 where she plays the flute and was in the Varsity group, top of her section by the time she was a freshman; she is also a section leader. She considers herself to be a high achiever and cares very much about her grades; she stresses over any grade that’s under a 90. Sophie overthinks pretty much everything. She picks out small details and stresses if it doesn’t all go the way she expects it to. You would often find Sophie by herself in her bedroom watching her favorite shows or reading her favorite books. Her favorite shows include Jane The Virgin, All American, and The Summer I Turned Pretty. Sophie’s favorite books are: The Diary Of Anne Frank, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and It’s Not Summer Without You. One thing about Sophie is that she gets annoyed pretty easily, but most of the time you won’t be able to tell that she is even frustrated. Her biggest pet peeve is people who eat loud/ chew with their mouth open.Sophie is one of seven kids so she gets called the wrong name often, mostly by her parents. While she enjoys living in America, she prefers living overseas. When she is older, Sophie would like to go back to China where she lived for the majority of her life before coming to Graham (12 years).
