Would you ever sub at your old high school? Well this week we had a former GHS student sub at Graham High School.
Ms. Gutierrez is a former Graham High School student. She graduated back in May of 2023. Ms. Gutierrez just started subbing less than 2 weeks ago on October 17! Last week was her first time subbing at Graham High School. She subbed for Sr. Hunters Spanish 1 class. I asked her how her first day subbing at GHS went and she said, “My first day went okay. There were some times where it went a little crazy but overall I would rate it a 7/10.”
She was asked how she felt about subbing for the high school that she graduated from, and she said, “It feels weird but it brings back a lot of memories. To be honest, I miss my old high school days. I miss filming football games, playing soccer, running cross country, school clubs and some teachers.” We also asked her what her favorite thing about subbing at GHS was and she said, “…… That’s a good question. My favorite thing about subbing was interacting with the students about their day and helping them out with their work.”
One reason that Ms. Gutierrez likes her job is because she gets to pick out the days that she works. She wanted to start subbing because she recently changed her major to education because she wants to become a teacher. So subbing was a way for her to get that teacher experience. I asked her what her favorite thing to do outside of her job and she said, “I really enjoy being involved with my church! I am a Sunday school teacher, and a youth group helper.”
I would say subbing for your old high school really isn’t bad. “The amount of memories that came back to me once I stepped foot into the school was amazing,” said Ms. Gutierrez.
