The 50th anniversary of SNL took place on February 16th. There were lots of sights seen and laughs had. Let’s recap!
First of all, SNL stands for Saturday Night Live! It is an American variety television show full of comedy skits. There are regularly celebrity guests and hosts mixing up every week’s Saturday night air.
With the 50th anniversary taking place, a large number of celebrities featured on the series over the years came back for a reunion. There were more celebrity guest appearances than I had ever seen! It was a blast and went to show how important this event was to the industry. There were comedians from Maya Rudolph to Jimmy Fallon. There were musical artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Bad Bunny. And a large number of actors including Meryl Streep, Scarlett Johansen, Emma Stone, and Pedro Pascal. These names were just a few seen performing the SNL set.
Alongside the jokes were stunning outfits. Jenna Ortega rocked a silky brown dress, Kristin Wiig wore a risque dress, Blake Lively strutted the carpet, despite the recent controversy, in a stunning silver dress, Halsey wore an iconic suit, and my personal favorite was Emma Stone’s popcorn dress which stood out among the rest. These were just a few of the outfits that knocked my socks off.
There were iconic skits performed and jokes told. There was a sequel to the “Domingo” skit performed earlier this year that blew up online. The sequel, while not as good as the first, was still so much fun. Other hilarious skits were performed and songs sung. All of this is what made the event so special.
I was certainly entertained by this event and I was impressed with how awesome the celebration was! 50 never looked so good.
