“MUSIC,” released March 14th, 2025, is Playboi Carti’s fourth studio album. The project was five years in the making since his last album, and to say the build-up to this project was insane would be an understatement. Although many times that fans thought he was going to drop this project, only to be surprised with fit pics, it was amazing when he finally released it that fateful night. The project consists of 30 songs and four tracks added later on for the deluxe version, with the album clocking in at around one hour and 17 minutes. Now here are me and Bryce’s ratings of each track and the album as a whole…

Bryce’s overall thoughts:
When Playboi Carti dropped “Whole Lotta Red” on Christmas morning in 2020, I was ecstatic. At the time, Playboi Carti was one of my favorite artists, and there was so much hype and buildup for the album. When I first listened to Whole Lotta Red, I was surprised by the overall sound of the album because I was used to the sound of “Die Lit”, but even with it being so different from what I expected, I immediatly liked songs such as “Rockstar Made” and “Stop Breathing”. Over time, I ended up liking the new style and was extremely excited for whatever he had in store for us next.
When I heard that Playboi Carti was dropping on Friday, I was skeptical at first and rightfully so, but once I started seeing more and more things, I started to get excited. On the Thursday night before, I stayed up to listen to it only for Carti to delay it multiple times, which made me think it wasn’t going to drop it, so I went to sleep. When I woke up, it was out, and I was extremely happy and listened to it first thing in the morning.
My favorite tracks on this album are “JUMPIN”, “K POP”, and “DIFFERENT DAY”. I like the Lil Uzi Vert feature on “JUMPIN,” and I was so happy to see them on a song together again. I like “EVIL JORDAN,” but the intro makes the song worse, in my opinion. It was cool to hear once, but I hate listening to a minute-long buildup when I can’t grab my phone to skip past it. I hate the song “OPM BABI” because it just sounds like somebody spamming a soundboard. I’m not a big Kendrick Lamar fan, but I think his verse on “GOOD CREDIT” is really good. I think that the opening track “POP OUT” is good but not necessarily worthy of being the first track. I feel like “EVIL JORDAN” is better suited for being the opening track because of the intro.
Overall I thought that this album was pretty good but I do think as an album it’s too long. I love Carti but 34 tracks is a lot. I’m not complaining since it’s been so long since he dropped last and I love getting this many new tracks but it’s a lot for an album experience. I think it’s much better to look at this project as a mixtape or just a collection of songs rather than an album experience.
Grady’s overall thoughts:
I thought the album was pretty good, the hype and build up to it was crazy. But overall I was was impressed by the album and it’s quality.
