This past weekend, the Lu Allen Memorial Volleyball tournament was hosted at Graham High School and Junior High for the 22nd consecutive year. Here is all the information you can catch up on!
The Lu Allen Memorial Volleyball Tournament is one of the largest volleyball tournaments in North Texas. This tournament is to honor Allen, who was the Lady Blues’ coach. The players from the 2003 to 2004 season wanted to honor her by hosting this tournament to raise money for a scholarship in her name and to honor Allen as well.
The Graham Lady Blues volleyball team finished in 3rd place out of 32 other teams. The Gold Bracket champions were Shallowater, with runners-up being Paradise. Finishing in 3rd were the Graham Lady Blues. Lastly, the team that finished in the Gold Bracket Consolation was Lubbock Trinity Christian.
Every individual athlete played with all their strength and ambition. Let’s take a moment to recognize fellow GHS athlete Kaden Atwood, who was selected for the All-American team. By the end of the tournament, Kaden collected 72 digs and completed 11 aces total at the service line.
All athletes played their absolute best throughout the 2-day tournament. We appreciate all the teams and the community for coming to support the girls and honoring Allen!
Go support our Lady Blues on Aug. 29-30, Friday – Saturday, for the Fillie Festival Tournament in Denver City!! Time to be determined.
