The start of the school year is a very chaotic time for teachers and it is also a very dreaded time for students. Students expect our counselors and teachers to be fully prepared for the year ahead. So when they get to school and the schedules are either missing classes or having two of the same class periods it becomes very frustrating.
The start of this school year has been incredibly chaotic because the students of Graham High School came back after the summer break and many students have had missing classes or have needed schedule changes. Many students in the school have felt frustrated not just because of the schedule mess ups but also because the counselors for the different grades have been slow to respond to emails which has been stressing many students out. Many students had put classes on their schedules last spring that they never got put into which has proven frustrating for many. I have spoken with some of the students about their schedules and they have expressed their frustration.
I talked to Mallori Buschmann about her schedule and the problems she faced. “When I got my schedule I needed to change my fourth period so I could be in my college classes, and I needed to change my seventh period,” Mallori Buschmann said, “It really depends on if they answer you fast or not…they wouldn’t answer me fast which was frustrating.” I also spoke with Larissa Warren who needs to be put in an athletic period “I”ve been starting on varsity softball for three years and they ended up not putting me in athletics this year, and I can’t play sports without being in athletics. They still have not changed my schedule, but my coach said if they don’t change it then he will make an exception for me.” Larissa Warren said. The schedule problems have for the most part been dealt with, but some still have not been fixed. Hopefully they can get everything under control soon.
