Amidst other changes, Graham High School has welcomed three new exchange students for the 2025–2026 school year: Pablo Gonzalez De Las Heras and Laura Martin Guijarro, both from Spain, and Hilo Bud Gerd Ronald Weiser from Germany. A common reason behind their decision to join an exchange program was someone they knew who had participated before, and their eagerness to experience it too.
“My cousin was in Kentucky and my friend was in Nevada,” said De Las Heras. “I’m excited for the new experiences.”
All three expressed a similar feeling of excitement for the school year. Guijarro mentioned that she was looking forward to homecoming and was curious about something American students see every day without a second glance: the yellow school bus. “School buses are things we only see in movies,” said Guijallero
Weiser detailed the popular fascination with the “American aesthetic,” especially when it comes to food. “There are so many more options and modifications for everything.” Weiser was appreciative of the different options.
All three hope to bring new experiences and lasting memories home with them.
