Graham High School started its homecoming week on October 13th with a parade and bonfire showcasing the homecoming nominees. The nominees were nominated by peers and selected from the seniors at Graham High School. They went through two stages of voting. In the first round, only seniors nominate the top three candidates for king and queen, and then the final vote to decide the king and queen. Homecoming is an annual celebration held in the fall, reconnecting the community and helping to build school spirit. In the small town of Graham, Homecoming is a huge thing.
The three homecoming king nominees were McCrae Menard, Jack Page, and Logan Renfro. Macrae participates in football, basketball, and track. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and Youth Lead. McCrae plans to attend Lubbock Christian University. Jack Page is very active around GHS; he is the President of Student Council, an RSB3 Drum Major, the Senior Class Vice President, and a part of the theater club. Logan Renfro is a Graham sports enthusiast; he stays yelling at many Graham sporting events. Logan says he is a semi-professional racecar driver, as well as an amateur tattoo artist.
The queen nominees for GHS are Kaden Atwood, Mia-Katherine Hunter, and Ellie Weatherman. Kaden is involved in FCA, National Honor Society, Blue Crew, Varsity Track and is also the captain of the Varsity Volleyball team. She would enjoy going hunting, buying stuff off Amazon, and binge watching Netflix series, but instead she finds herself at volleyball practice most of the time. Mia is involved in the RSB3, Athletic Training, StuCo, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Spanish Club. Some of Mia’s best memories of GHS would be the chats she had with Carrico, Pip, and her friends, or running away from her dad in the hallways. Ellie is involved in Varsity track, soccer, cross country, cheer, Key Club, NHS, STUCO, and YouthLead. Ellie’s goals for her Senior year are to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up, maybe decide on a college, and to miraculously pass Math.
At the end of the night, the homecoming King and queen ended up being Ellie Weatherman and Logan Renfro. Congrats to the Winners!
