Personality vs. Looks
Is personality really more important than looks? Well according to a study done by YouGov (a company that provides global opinions and data), the answer is yes. Good looks can only get you so far in life. Most people know about the three-month rule in a relationship. Once you hit three months, true personalities start to come out, and, unfortunately, a lot of relationships end because of this.
A twenty-country study by YouGov found that 52% of men and women ranked their partner as having a “personality they liked” as their top priority in a relationship. So, who really is more shallow in a relationship? Well, based on the study, men. Sorry ladies, although I’m sure most of us expected this, 15% of men say looks are their biggest driving factor in a relationship whereas only 5% of women find it most important. The good news is, to the general population, personality is much more important. In fact, most people in their study ranked looks as one of the least important factors!
Now, I don’t want to go around only exposing the boys, so onto one of the next biggest questions… how important is money to your potential partners? As a lady myself, I hate to say it, but the men have got us beat. At least when it comes to not caring about money. 85% of men ranked money as the least important factor when looking for a partner; whereas only 65% of women ranked it in last place.
With all of this being said, I believe that there are plenty of good people out there. Look at the big picture! With almost 8 billion people on the planet, that means that over 4 billion think that personality is more important than looks, and I think that’s pretty good odds of finding a good one!
