As the 2026 winter Olympics concluded on February 22nd in Milan, Italy the results for the final medal count are in.
Overall, Norway came in first place with a total of 41 medals collected throughout the Olympics. The Norwegians earned 18 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 11 bronze medals. Norway earned gold in cross-country skiing, biathlon, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and freestyle skiing.
The United States came in second with a record winter Olympics winning the most gold medals that they have ever won and the most amount of medals earned with 33 total medals earned this year. The USA earned 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and nine bronze medals. The USA earned gold in freestyle skiing, alpine skiing, speed skating, figure skating, bobsled, men’s ice hockey, and women’s ice hockey.
The Netherlands came in third and earned a total of 20 medals collected through the Olympic games. They earned 10 gold medals, seven silver medals, and three bronze medals. The Netherlands earned multiple gold medals in speed skating and short-track.
Italy came in fourth place overall with a total medal coming to a count of 30. The Italians earned 10 gold medals, six silver medals, and 14 bronze medals. Italy earned gold in speed skating, luge, alpine skiing, and biathlon.
In fifth place came Germany, who earned a total medal count of 26. Germany won eight gold medals, 10 silver medals, and eight bronze medals. They earned gold in speed skating, Bobsleigh and Luge.
In sixth place came France, in seventh place came Sweden, eighth place was Switzerland, ninth place was Austria and 10th place was Japan. Congratulations to all the athletes that were competing, we are proud of you!
