For many decades, Graham High School has never allowed any outside guests from other schools to attend our prom. It has always been tradition that Graham High School’s prom was an exclusive event that only allowed juniors and seniors who attend our school to participate.
As of 2025, it was the first year that they even allowed home-schooled students who lived within the Graham school district to come and attend our prom. Although this was not a major change, this allowed students who previously could not attend any prom in the area, a chance to get the real high school dance experience.
This was a very controversial decision with alumni of the school because the prom was supposedly called an “exclusive event” for Graham High School students previously, though the current high school students were excited of such a change that they could be allowed to bring their dates who attend homeschooling.
For the 2026 Prom, another change has been made allowing different attendees this year. This year, they are allowing other students from different school districts to attend prom if they are a junior or a senior. Although the new prom attendees must obtain permission from the school that they attend and from Graham High School itself, this is a big change that many have been waiting decades for. Although this is a new rule for students of Graham, many surrounding schools have allowed outside students to attend their proms, so this is a long awaited event.
Overall, many students are excited to bring their dates from other schools this year, many students may have a boyfriend or girlfriend who attend different schools other than Graham, so this is a good opportunity for those to enjoy prom together.
