The 2026-2027 Cheer season has begun! Here is a rundown of how the season has started and what is yet to come.
First, your new captains that will be running this season are Ella Andrade (Captain) and Bayleigh Mcgee (Co-Captain)! They are putting their all into this season and will be dedicated to improving the season as it continues.
This year, incoming freshmen had the opportunity to try out for the varsity team. This was one of the biggest changes the program has made. The change allows girls to show off their talents and skills on the mat to the highest advantage they could achieve. While in previous years, underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) would only be allowed to be on JV, and upperclassmen (Juniors and Seniors) would only be allowed to be on varsity.
This past month, the Graham Cheerleading squad had a fundraiser from March 18th to March 31st, 2026, with a goal of $15,000. Both JV and Varsity teams had an individual goal to raise $500 through the Raise-360 app. They are excited to announce that the cheer squad raised over $15,426 (Checks not included), completing their goal and being one of the only teams in Graham to have every member accomplish their goal, but going overboard! They give so much appreciation to everyone who helped them meet their goal.
After a couple of years, the whole cheer squad will be upgrading their warm-up gear, bringing a red uniform out of retirement, having an assortment of poms, and new megaphones! They will be retiring their black warm-ups and will be showing off their new colorful gear on the sideline. You will then see varsity in a red uniform that was retired last season but successfully made its way back. Throughout football season, you would see the cheerleaders with the big, metallic poms; now they will be alternating solid color poms for a sharper look! Megaphones will now be changing in size and style, with them intentionally becoming smaller but upgraded.
Graham cheer has been very focused on their school spirit and trying to bring the energy up at events, games, and pep rallies. Now, this season they are going for a win themselves. This year, they will be competing at UIL! Cheer loves to cheer on every sport in hopes they go far into the playoffs, now they will be fighting for a win of their own.
