GHS Track and Field

Track season is right around the corner and practices have already started up. The athletes who are in the Graham Track Program will compete at up to 10 track meets in the 2024 season, 6 of those being pre-district. After district, a select few of the Graham track athletes will have the opportunity to compete at higher levels, by advancing to the Area Meet, Regional Meet, and potentially even the State Track Meet in Austin. Coach Jim Walton is the head track coach of the girls track and field team, and Coach Gregg Lee coaches the boys track and field team. When asked how she feels about track season coming up, Junior Emilee Gordy said, “I can’t wait for track season. I’m so excited to see everyone in track and go to the meets.” This year’s track team has a great season ahead for both boys and girls.

Braylee Mayes, Contributor
Braylee Mayes is the Junior editor for the Steer Stampede. She lives with her mom, dad,  two standard poodles, and of course her leopard gecko. Braylee is a part of the LBVB, soccer, and track program, along with Student Council, Key Club, and FCA at GHS. She is also a member of the student lead Rock board. Braylee enjoys going on hikes, the color pink and Parker McCollum. Sunsets are her favorite thing, meaning if you missed the sunset one night just ask her for a picture because she definitely took one! She loves her Chai Matcha Latte almost as much as she loves Jesus. One thing you should know about Braylee is she watches Vampire Diaries on repeat. One of her personality traits is that she was homeschooled until her freshman year of high school. Another fun fact about Braylee is her enneagram type is a nine wing one. She is looking forward to her Junior year and what God has planned for her future.
