Public displays of affection, also known as PDA, include many behaviors such as kissing, holding hands, hugging, and other intimate gestures displayed in public places. While some people view PDA as a very harmless expression of love, on the other hand, some people find it very uncomfortable and also very inappropriate.
One of the primary reasons people dislike PDA is due to personal discomfort. Even though everyone has different boundaries about things, and regarding physical affection, witnessing intimate expressions from other people may make it seem like you are interrupting and being very intrusive. For many people, PDA creates a feeling of being unwillingly involved in a moment that seems to be a private moment, which often leads to awkwardness or even makes people feel very uneasy.
Public displays of affection aren’t necessarily disliked because of negativity towards relationships. One of the central reasons many people dislike PDA is due to personal discomfort with physical affection, respect for cultural norms, and consideration for public spaces.
