It’s Senior Night Again!

Basketball Senior Night 2024

Friday January 19, 2024 will be Graham High School’s Steers and Lady Blues senior night. All teams will be playing Mineral Wells. The Lady Blues Varsity team will begin at 5:45 pm, and the Steers Varsity Team will begin following the girls, roughly around 7:00 pm. Normally this event takes place on the very last home game of the year, however they decided to do things a little differently. There is much preparation that is required to make this night possible. The moms each make a poster board that includes pictures of their senior. Cake and drinks are provided, and pictures are taken during the celebration. In between these two games, all seniors involved in Graham Basketball will be announced individually. They will walk across the court with their parents as someone reads from the papers that the seniors have written. This includes who they are being escorted by, number of years participating in basketball, if they are a captain of the team, any future plans, their, “Words of Thanks”, and their, “Words to Team/Words of Wisdom.” This year’s Steer seniors are Keion Shead, Riley Lanham, Tyson Weaver, Sam Rogers and Kolby Spurlin. This year’s Lady Blue seniors are Maddie Franklin, Hannah Williams, and Madi Wilde. We wish them the best of luck from the Steer Stampede!

About the Contributor
Madi Wilde, Editor
Dear Reader, Madi Wilde, senior at GHS, is a co-editor for the Steer Stampede. It may seem like she is so bored, and all so tired of everything, but she is a part of NHS, Art Club, Key Club, Student Council, varsity cross country team, varsity basketball team, and varsity soccer team, as well as dance at Renee’s Dance Factory. To say she is obsessed with Taylor Swift would be an understatement. She constantly uses lyrics from her songs on a daily basis. If you were to ask her for life advice she would tell you to never be so clever you forget to be kind, never grow up, and to always listen to Taylor Swift. As someone that will be graduating soon she feels as if there has been a glitch considering how fast these past high school years have flown by. She doesn’t want to wonder what would’ve, could’ve or should’ve been, so for her very last high school year she intends to make it count, take the road not taken, and live for the hope of it all. She may not be a mastermind, but when it’s time to go, long story short, she will be able to say she survived “the great war”.
