NAHS, otherwise known as the National Art Honor Society, is a US-based program for high school students in grades 9-12 that was established by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) in 1978 to recognize outstanding artistic talent and foster creativity. Mrs. Andrew keeps these goals alive through her hard work and dedication to the club, going as far as to host monthly craftivites for her students. The last craftivity was in December, when the members gathered to eat a late breakfast provided by the club officers and make decorated oyster shells.
For recurring participants who had completed over 5 hours of community service for the club at the time of the event, stayed afterwards for Graham High School’s third annual NAHS induction ceremony, the inductees were provided with lunch and a certificate for their commitment.
Addison Carr, this year’s 2025-2026 president qoutes that craftivities are: “A great way for members to get together and express their creative freedom. Even though this is our first year trying out this type of event, we would like to try to continue them in the coming years.” It is felt that this has brought the club closer together as a whole and encouraged more activity for other sign-ups and events.
While there won’t be a January craftivity, it is safe to say that members can look forward to the upcoming months. The next craftivity date is scheduled to be held on Friday, February 13th. Though nothing is set in stone, a sneak peek at what can be expected features some fun Valentine’s themed crafts, including wax seals and lettered cards.
